The Pro III LUTs are designed for perfect Rec709 colorimetry and a linear
luma curve, placing middle grey (also known as 18% grey) at the 50% IRE
level after the LUT has been applied.
In most cases, this results in the image becoming darker in the shadows, as
manufacturers love to add arbitrary brightness curves to their profiles.
This isn’t a bug, and you aren’t losing any image information after LUT
application. I recommend that you shoot ETTR to maximise your camera’s
dynamic range. If you do this, the post-LUT image will always look as it
should in the real world.
Athena III LUTs are a brighter version of Pro III, while retaining the same
perfect colorimetry.
